The Department of Electronics and communication Engineering is a recognized Research Department by Anna University, Chennai.
The Research center of the ECE department has supervisors guiding PhD scholars from AIT and also from other affiliated colleges.
Four Phd Scholars were doing research under the guidance of Dr.A.Rajendran, Dean-Electrical Sciences, AIT.

The consultancy and research center of the ECE Department takes care of providing training to the faculty and students of both AIT and other Colleges by establishing several research labs and special laboratories by taking the market trends into consideration.

1. The WIPRO MISSION10X TECHNOLOGY LEARNING CENTER is a laboratory in association with WIPRO TECHNOLOGIES, BANGALORE.
Various Technical Workshops and Faculty development training programs are taken up by this center.

2. CISCO NEWORKING ACADEMY
The CISCO networking academy takes up various training programs for student and Faculty members.
It also conducts the CCNA certificate courses.
3. EMBEDDED SYSTEM LABORATORY
The Embedded system laboratory is used by UG and PG students for project work.
